What would happen if we stopped trying to control everything? Trying to control everything, our schedules, relationships, future, and even other people, often leaves us feeling exhausted, anxious, and frustrated. The truth is, control is an illusion, and the more we cling to it, the less peace we experience. But what if we stopped trying to control everything and surrendered it to God?
First, we’d feel an immediate weight lift. Letting go of the need to manage every outcome allows space for rest and trust. We’d no longer carry the pressure of being in charge of things only God can truly handle, like the future, other people’s choices, or unexpected challenges. We’d also experience deeper faith. Releasing control forces us to trust God’s timing, His ways, and His wisdom above our own. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “trust in the Lord… and lean not on your own understanding.” That trust leads to peace, even when life doesn’t go as planned. Relationships would improve too. Instead of trying to fix or control others, we’d learn to love, support, and pray for them, leaving the rest to God. If we stopped trying to control everything, we’d gain something far better: freedom. Freedom to live fully, love deeply, and walk confidently, knowing God is in control, and that’s more than enough.
